God’s Faithfulness through Mint Hill Presbyterians Churches History
From the beginning God’s hand has been on Mint Hill Presbyterian Church. It began in 1971 as Idlewild ARP on Idlewild Road in Charlotte, NC. The church prospered and grew for many years. During this time the church used innovative outreach ideas like Sure Foundation (an adult music group that toured singing contemporary Christian music) and New Vibrations (a youth music group that also toured using music as outreach) to reach people for Christ.
By the late 1990’s, our membership started to decline and in 2004, under the leadership of our new pastor, Dr. Barry Eller we believed God was calling us to move the church from Idlewild Road to our present location in Mint Hill. During this transition we met in various locations over four years including Craig Avenue ARP, Bain Elementary School in Mint Hill, and a rented vacant church in Hemby Bridge. Yet even in these years of transition God sustained us and we were able to buy our present property on Brief Road in 2006.
Starting in 2011, after a long construction period, we were able to move into our new building to begin worship and outreach. Since moving into our building we have called a new minister, Richard Brueck and are beginning to reach out to the Mint Hill Community. We exist in Mint Hill to glorify God and to reach the community for Christ. We are excited to see how God is working in our church to reach the lost for Christ.
